COURT SACKS ADAMU ALIERO, RECOGNIZES HARUNA SAI’DU AS THE SENATORIAL CANDIDATE OF THE PDP FOR KEBBI CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT
The Federal High Court in Birni Kebbi has voided today 27th of September, the primary election of the former governor of Kebbi State, Senator Adamu Aliero as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Kebbi Central District.
The judge, Justice Babangana Ashigar therefore ordered INEC to accept and recognize Alhaji Haruna Sai’du as the authentic candidate of the party for the 2023 general elections.
The court held that the second primaries conducted by the PDP and the INEC which produced Aliero as the candidate after Sai’du had won the ticket for the senatorial district contravenes the provisions of the Electoral Act, hence, it is declared null and void.
Justice Ashigar observed that at the time the first primary was held, Senator Adamu Aliero was still in the APC… which means he had yet to decamp to the PDP.
