COVID-19: ALIMOSHO LOCAL GOVERNMENT GENERAL HOSPITAL EDUCATE HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS.
The Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, has set up a training workshop on logistics for 55 healthcare providers as part of efforts towards eradicating the spread of Coronavirus disease.
The interactive training session was held yesterday within the facility, was to educate participants selected from all cadres on the Covid-19 infection and the prescribed methods for controlling the spread in view of the anticipated patient-influx at the hospital, following the partial easing of lockdown in the State by the Federal Government effective from next Monday.
the Medical Director, Alimosho General Hospital, Dr. Madewa Adebajo stated that the initiative was designed based on a series of training sessions organised by the State Ministry of Health and the Health Service Commission for top medical staff on proactive medical discoveries, which will also benefit subordinate healthcare providers within the hospital.
According to Dr. Adebajo, COVID -19 can be contracted through direct contact, indirect spread, droplets and airborne spread.
Dr. Adebajo maintained that the deadly disease is not absolutely airborne like other suspected infections such as tuberculosis but by droplets dispelled through inhalation from an infected person, which calls for physical distancing as adequate prevention method.
He said further that the upper respiratory tract could be compromised from the spread of Covid-19 by infected fingers, which are inserted into the nose, mouth or eyes, meanwhile, the need for standard precautions to be observed are by regular hand washing with soap and water, use of alcohol-based sanitisers and the use of face mask.
Dr. Adebajo promised that Alimosho General Hospital will keep providing PPEs for the staff irrespective of thier work stations.
He added that personnel in the Labour Ward would also be provided with full face cover masks for use whilst attending to hyper-ventilated patients during natural births.
